15 Strangers Reveal The Most Memorable “Last Words” They Ever Heard
I’m old enough to know, death is a part of life. Upsetting as it is, it puts things into perspective and reminds us to seize the day, be grateful for what we have and to tell those who we love that we love them.
So brace yourself to feel pretty emotional (on a lot of different levels!) as I walk you through some of the most poignant final words hospital workers ever witnessed. These experiences were shared on Reddit, be warned, some of these stories are very upsetting with some bad language, involving death and terminal illness.
Ready? Let’s go;
1. Stupid questions…
I thought we’d kick off with something as much on the light side as possible! Hopefully, the pain wasn’t too much by the end… We’re sure the doctors did everything in their power to make this person comfortable.
2. F**k cancer
What a moment this must have been for this person. How lovely that their Dad was singing until the end, we’re sure he was in a wonderful place in his mind during this time. The author of the post signed off with “F*ck cancer”, and I completely, completely agree!
3. The big reveal…
Wow… the things that come out during challenging times, right?! At least she knew about it. No secrets between this couple…
4. The long story short
Some stories don’t need any further description… You don’t need the whole picture to realize just how heartbreaking this sentiment is…
5. The sixth sense…
This is so spooky! I like to think that his Grandpops was looking out for him, watching over him.
6. In a blaze of glory!
This is the way I wanna go! Not with a whimper but with a bang!
7. Told you I was ill…
Sometimes when you know, you know. At least the end was quick and hopefully with as little pain as possible.
8. Speaking too soon…
At least he felt well towards the end, not only was there little pain, it seems they may have been almost none at all!
9. Love you ’til the end
If this ain’t true love then I don’t know what is. Both heartbreaking and beautiful, he was always wanting what was best for her.
10. Those three words
This is all you want them to say, this is all you want to say back. What a beautiful farewell. I’m sure this mother is proud and watching over them all (with Dad!)
11. Gratitude
God bless every single person working in our hospitals. Especially those easing vulnerable people through their final hours. Absolute respect for this man.
12. Gone too soon
I don’t blame this poor person for crying still. What a traumatic thing for any mother to experience and yet, what a beautiful reassurance from one so young. She really must have loved and appreciated her Mum sticking by her always.
13. No holding back
Hard as nails right to the end. I bet she wouldn’t have had it any other way!
14. Going home
Sometimes people know exactly where they’re going and who exactly they’re going to see. I hope her and Mama met up and are happy together now.
15. See you soon, Sally
Sometimes the only comfort we can take from a loved one passing is knowing that they’ll be reunited with someone they were missing in life. Though it’s heartbreaking to lose someone we have to hope they’re going to somewhere or someone that will make them happy.
I’m sending all my love to those of you who heard a loved one’s last words, I am sure they appreciated it more than we can imagine and are watching over you with love.
What do you hope your last words will be? I know I just want to tell the people who matter most that I love them. Let me know in the comments and remember to seize the day while you can! AAx
