“I Learnt About My Younger Sister’s Death On Twitter” – Man Laments

A Nigerian man has taken to his Twitter handle to lament about how he learnt about his younger sister’s death on the social media application when his family member were yet to break the news to him.

According to the man, the manner in which Nigerians share news of death on Twitter as soon as they hear about it is appalling.

In his own word:

Can I ask for a favour Twitter people, Please avoid sharing news about someone’s death as soon as YOU hear them. On Monday I went through my TL and found out my sister passed away. It wasn’t via a phone call from my family, it was via Twitter.

I was at work, for obvious reasons my parents didn’t call and tell me. I had to act strong in front of colleagues and clients after reading that tweet. I didn’t know what to do/say. I have never been in such a situation in my life.
