From buying clothes to climbing stairs, the modern world is full of subtle traps for people with large derrières which people lacking in certain dimensions simply breeze past without so much as a thought for the rest of us.

These are struggles which many of the population must endure without compromise, without consideration, and without fuss. Here are 20 times that people with large derrières suffer through – those without, take note! (and yes I’m going to use the word derrière a considerable amount as it adds an appreciable element of finesse!)

 

1.) Pants May Fit Your Butt, But Not Your Waist

Companies who make jeans have no conception of the scale of the problem that this really is!

2.) Even Leggings Can Let You Down

Leggings may well be your friend for a lot of the time, but even they can let you down, literally ’cause you’ll probably have to hitch them up every minute.

 

3.) And They Can Let You Down In More Ways Than One…

And then when you’re not hitching them up, they can be stabbing you in the back in a different way…

You’d think that brands would understand that people aren’t the same shape at the back as at the front, it’s pretty basic anatomy guys.

Much like anything in life, a large derrière (see, it’s classier ’cause it’s French, that’s just how words work) can make physical exercise more difficult, especially with bike seats, I mean they’re just ludicrously tiny!

It’s hard to ignore the idea niggling sensation that everyone behind you is staring at you… they’re probably not but the thought won’t go away.

12.) Hipster Vintage Clothes Aren’t Designed For You

With hipster-retro fever still in full swing (and I’m not talking about 90s Adidas jackets here) outfits from 60s and before tend to have a much more restrictive sizing chart, so that authentic chic old-school look is much harder to put together.

 

13.) Catcalling

Catcalling is thankfully more commonly realized as a past-time only engaged in by block-headed douchebags with insecurity complexes, but having a big butt can still attract more than a fair share of unwanted attention.

15.) Chairs Can Be Too Narrow

Yep, chairs can be your enemy too, the simple act of sitting down, taken away from you without the potential for a disaster to ensue when all you want to do is stand up… just think about that for a second chair manufacturers, yeah, I see you there.

16.) Shorts Aren’t So Simple

Shorts will naturally become short shorts and in turn short shorts become short short-shorts, never thought you’d see the word shorts so much in such a short sentence did you?

 

17.) Even When Clothes Just Fit, People Will Think They’re Too Provocative

Some people can just wear shorts and leggings and their just shorts or leggings, but on you they attract unwanted attention no matter what time of the day or what you are doing.

18.) Legitimate Lower-Back Pain!

Back pain is no laughing matter, unless someone has a bad back because they were laughing too much in which case by definition the matter is laughing… I digress. There is a belief in some physiological circles that the extra weight in your butt can lead to back problems… but I’ll leave it up to you to have your opinions on that.

 

19.) Wedgies Are A Constant Possibility

Even though we’re out of school, the threat still looms only to be perpetrated by our own dastardly behinds.

 

20.) Unwanted Attention

All joking aside, just because a woman has a bigger butt is not an invitation to make inappropriate assumptions guys, don’t be that weirdo in the bar!
