Young Man Wakes Up With Stray Kitten On Top Of Him, Decides To Adopt Her As His First Pet

A lot of us have interesting stories about how we ended up adopting our pets. When it comes to adopting cats, it’s often said that you don’t choose them – they choose you. This was certainly the case for one young man from Canberra, Australia, who went out for a snooze and ended up making a new best friend he didn’t even know he needed.

According to the young man, whose name is Ali Safa, he has never really had pets, and is also a bit of a loner, and doesn’t have that many friends to speak of. However, as he was going about a normal day recently, Ali found himself blessed with affection from a brand new friend – a feline one, to be specific.

When Ali Safa casually went outside to enjoy the sunshine outside, he wasn’t expecting anything much – it was just a regular day in the Australian capital.

“I was just checking my phone, nothing much really,” he said in an interview. Before he knew it, he had fallen asleep on a lounger outside.

When he woke up from his outside nap, he soon realized that he wasn’t alone, as he felt something snuggled up on top of him. “At first, I thought it was a rat,” Ali recalled in his interview.

“But by the time I realized she was a kitten, I didn’t care about whether she has fleas or not, because if she did I probably already got it, so whatever.”

Quite right, Ali – I wouldn’t worry about a few fleas. Considering some of the dangerous animals they have in Australia, such as venomous snakes and spiders, I’d say this is definitely the best-case scenario for waking up with a random animal on top of you!

He whipped out his phone and took a couple of pictures of his new bud, who seemed keen on sticking around. The little kitty was meowing constantly, obviously in need of some food.

Thankfully, she had found the right human, and Ali set about getting her fed, as well as taken to the local vet to be looked over and cleaned up, with a view to adopting the gorgeous little fluffball.

After uploading the pictures he had taken to Reddit, people immediately started asking follow-up questions about how the kitty was doing and if there were any new developments. Sure enough, Ali wrote a few updates to inform them of his journey into becoming a pet owner for the first time.

It’s so great that Ali’s natural kindness compelled him to do all this for the kitten, who obviously would have been in some danger as a stray cat.

A lot of people believe that fate brings people together. I’m just glad that it brought this sweet, vulnerable kitty to this kind-hearted young man. It looks like this is the start of a beautiful friendship!
