Roseanne Barr Compares Sara Gilbert To Hannibal Lecter After Being Sacked From ABC Show

Tensions rise between former friends and co-stars Roseanne Barr and Sara Gilbert

As Gilbert’s star rises it appears Barr’s career has hit a rocky patch of road. Gilbert acts as executive producer and star of “The Conners”, recently signed up for a Season 2 renewal meanwhile, Barr has been dropped from the “Roseanne” revival for posting racist tweets.

Barr claims that Gilbert is to blame for highlighting and condemning the tweet in question. Gilbert reportedly called Barr’s comments “abhorrent” after she made a tweet likening black former senior White House adviser Valerie Jarrett, to an ape.

This lead to ABC President Channing Dungey canceling ‘Roseanne’ in May. Dungey also strongly condemned Barr’s comments on Twitter, claiming they were “repugnant and inconsistent” with ABC’s values and thus the show was canceled.

Despite Barr deleting the tweet and protesting she was unaware Jarrett was black, the damage was done.

Almost a year on from the tumultuous events Barr remains frosty toward her former friend. Likening her to serial killer and cannibal, Hanibal Lecter;

“She destroyed the show and my life with that tweet. She will never get enough until she consumes my liver with a fine Chianti.”

Which we think is pretty harsh…

Barr opened up about feeling extremely upset after the unexpected cancellation of her show. Friend, Rabbi Shmuley Boteach is cited as being the one who helped her through a dark time,

“Shmuley saved my life,” she said. “I was suicidal. He was the only person who stood by me and said they were going to destroy me because I love Trump and Israel.”

Gilbert’s perspective is slightly more hopeful. She expresses an unshakable affection for Barr whilst acknowledging the upset caused by her actions.

“While I’m extremely disappointed and heartbroken over the dissolution of the original show, she will always be family, and I will always love Roseanne.”

There seems little love lost from Barr’s perspective…

It’s hard not to feel a little sorry for Barr at this challenging time though her comments were absolutely out of order. We can’t stand fighting with our friends but sometimes people need calling out, right? So, what’s your stance?
