Dog Groomer Tired Of Being Questioned About Charging More Than A Hairdresser, Makes Hilarious Poster For Customers To Explain Why
Getting your pet professionally groomed is usually looked at as an ‘optional extra’ for many pet owners. Some may even say it’s a luxury treatment for their pet, especially when they could very well just dunk them in the nearest river or hose them down in the back yard.

However, this really isn’t the case at all. In fact, professional Pet Groomers offer several very essential maintenance services which help your pet to have good health – such as cleaning your pets eyes, ears and butts that your beloved furry four-legged companion may be unable to, or just plain unwilling to look after themselves!
Well, this tongue-in-cheek sign which was found at a pet groomers sums it up pretty freakin’ perfectly. Obviously, the owners of this particular grooming establishment were fed-up and frustrated of being asked the same old questions over and over again about their fees and so they thought it’d be a good use of their time to place all the reasons WHY a pet-groomer is a far more physically demanding job.
And perhaps, hopefully, after reading them yourself, you’ll have a much better appreciation for the job they do for us! I know it did for me.
# 10: Your hairdresser doesn’t wash and clean your rear end.
Have you ever gone to get your haircut and had the stylist ask you to stick your be-hind in the sink so they could rinse it out after a shampoo and a shoulder massage!? No? Well, fancy that.

# 9. You don’t go eight weeks without washing or brushing your hair.
People on a whole are pretty hygienic, and your average human being will wash and brush their hair regularly meaning that its kept neat and clean and smelling good. Then you have dogs. Dogs, do not do this, and can often show up to groomers with a matted, tangled mess of muddy fur… which can take a pretty long time to sort out.
# 8. Your hairdresser doesn’t give you a sanitary trim.
Hairdressers… well, they work on your, hair, obviously. And that hair is on your head. Another obvious one. However, it’s the hair that isn’t on your head that’s the problem… if you know what I mean. If they had to head down south with scissors in their hands, they’d probably charge you slightly more, wouldn’t you say?
# 7. Your hairdresser doesn’t clean your ears.
Yep, another area they don’t touch; your ears. Because let’s face it, going near your ears, especially inside of them, can be pretty darn dangerous. However, for our furry partners in crime, the ear cleaning process is an incredibly important service for them.
# 6. Your hairdresser doesn’t remove the boogers from your eyes.
Because that would be GROSS. However, many breeds of doggies have overactive tear ducts which do cause mucus to build up and so can cause serious discomfort to our dogs and also risks them getting an infection. This gunk can very often be super oozy and gross… but your pet groomer is more than happy to clean it up in order to help out your best friend!

# 5. You sit still for your hairdresser.
Imagine if, instead of sitting obediently in your swivelly chair, moving your head when prompted and serving up interesting conversation points, you went to the hairdresser and refused to sit still, wriggling about all over the salon and needing to be physically restrained? Welcome to the world of the pet groomer, where getting the subject to sit still is half the battle.
# 4. Your haircut doesn’t include a manicure or pedicure.
We go to a different salon and pay a separate fee to look after our nails on hands and feet. However, there are no dedicated dog ‘pawicurists;’ your pet groomer does the lot.
# 3. Your hairdresser only washes and cuts the hair on your head.
Yeah, I know I know, obvious. And Maybe you think that human body hair is different compared to animal body hair and yet… it is not. How you trim your personal hair is completely up to you, however, for a pet groomer, this is not the case. They must deal with a variety of growths sprouting all over your dear pet’s body.

# 2. You don’t bite or scratch your hairdresser.
If you did decide to go in for a nibble on your hairdresser while they are at work, you’d quickly find yourself in a spot of freakin’ trouble, right? For pet groomers, however, this is a common occurrence and one of the hazards of the job. And yet they still do it, because they love us and our pets. Isn’t that sweet?
# 1. The likelihood of you pooping on your hairdresser is pretty slim.
And last but possibly most significantly… the fact that your hairdresser assumes that if you did suddenly need to clear your bowels you’d politely excuse yourself and use their restroom. For pet groomers, however…well, you get the gist. They have no idea when they may suddenly be hit with an erm… extra surprise from their client.
Bored Panda spoke to Copenhagen-based groomer Laura Gedgaudaite . She told them that she absolutely loves her job, but she also admitted that it can be a lot harder than most people think.
“People often believe I spend most of my day cuddling with fluffy puppies, but that’s not true,” she told them.

“Some dog breeds have naturally long hair that grows non-stop, so it’s necessary to shampoo, brush, cut and trim their coats. The owners should brush these long-haired dogs daily, but they don’t always do that!”
“It takes a lot of energy to handle a dog if it’s not calm, especially if it’s a larger breed. But if they are aggressive or bite, I usually choose not to groom them and they have to go home. You have to be a strong person mentally to do this job because the dogs can feel if you are afraid or angry, they feel the adrenaline in your body and respond to it. So eventually, you learn how to trust yourself more.”
“I’m happiest when I do a nice job making them look super cute clean and fresh again. And if they are matted, it’s gratifying to help them be free of that, because it irritates their poor skin. And, of course, I enjoy the owners’ reaction when they see their dog all trimmed and beautiful, and when they appreciate the job I do.”
Let’s be honest folks when you love something as much as you love your dog, is there really anything more important than keeping it happy, healthy and clean? Most definitely not. It can also be a difficult and hazardous task to be able to make them this way, so be sure to be extra kind to your friendly local pet groomer… they truly are worth every single penny!
