Woman Ordered To “Cover Up” At Swimming Pool When Stranger Deems Her Swim-Suit Too “Inappropriate”
Tori Jenkins from Tennessee was at the pool in her apartment complex on a 90-degree day, where she was told that she must ‘cover up’ or change her outfit or she would have to leave the area due to her one-piece suit being too ‘inappropriate’!

Speaking to BuzzFeed News, Tori recounted how she was sat by the pool when a leasing consultant approached her:
“[The Consultant] tried to convince me a few times to let her take pictures of my butt to show how ‘inappropriate’ it was […] Told me that if I didn’t have kids I wouldn’t understand how it wasn’t right to be out in public in that, and that she wouldn’t want her own kids around me.”

Tori also said that the consultant told her that her outfit would ‘excite’ teenage boys in the area, which is freakin’ unbelievable!
“I was point-blank told that my comfortability at a pool that I paid to use was less important than a teenage boy being able to control himself […] It perpetuates the idea that how a man feels around a woman is more important than how a woman feels around herself.” – Tori.

This is a truly horrible example of a woman being forced to live her life as dictated to her by the wants and needs of a male-orientated society! She’s wearing a swim-suit at a swimming pool… it’s not a freakin’ crime!
The consultants and managers of the apartment block, known as Smoky Crossing, ought to be ashamed of themselves for targeting a woman such as Tori who is doing nothing wrong!
Talking to Inside Edition, Tori also explained that she thinks her ‘curves’ may have been an attributing factor for the attack:
“I was sitting next to a girl in a strapless bikini […] she was smaller than me, it wasn’t an issue obviously [that she] shows a lot more skin”.

Tori’s partner at the time took to Facebook to describe the ordeal. Tyler described the event as being an example of ‘sexual harassment and/or rape culture’, and expressed disbelief at the fact that they paid a $300 fee to maintain the pool, on top of their $1000 per month rent cost, which they are apparently not allowed to enjoy without being made to feel uncomfortable.
It horrific that we still live in a society where there are so frequently examples of women being made to feel uncomfortable in themselves due to a culture that over-sexualizes women.
The apartment complex did issue a statement denying the claims:
“Ms. Jenkins was never asked to leave the pool. In addition, our leasing agent did not state that Ms. Jenkins swimwear would “excite teenage boys.” […] we feel it is inappropriate to equate requesting Ms. Jenkins to cover up with sexual harassment or “rape culture.” Smoky Crossing denounces harassment in all forms.”

Tori Jenkins responded to their statement by saying “they’re trying to say that they ‘didn’t kick me out’ because the words they used were, ‘You can’t be in the pool area with this swimsuit on.'”
I hope that Tori has managed to move past this horrible ordeal, nobody should be demeaned or stigmatized against like this! Are you as sick of this kind of body-shaming as I am? Let me know in the comments! AAx
