Social Media Goes Agog Over Naira Marley’s Arrest

As most Nigerians woke up on Friday morning, they were greeted with the news of Nigerian rapper, Naira Marley being apprehended by officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Naira Marley courted trouble when he publicly justified the activities of Internet fraudsters popularly referred to as Yahoo boys. The rapper equated the activities of Yahoo boys to that of Europeans who enslaved Africans, stating that now Africans were only taking revenge.

This statement stirred controversy on social media as shades were thrown from different corners. Not resting on his oars, Naira Marley released a new song title “Am I a Yahoo Boy?” featuring Zlatan Ibile.
