Police to arrest hoodlums who dare enforce IPOB Sit-at-home
The Enugu state Police Command has said that it will arrest and prosecute anyone, who uses the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) as a guise to perpetuate crime in the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Sulaiman Balarabe, said this at a new conference — Adding that only the Federal Government reserves the right to declare public holidays in the country.
It will be recalled that the group had been labelled by the federal government through a court order as a terrorist group.
IPOB had called for a “Sit-at-Home’’ in all Igbo land to “celebrate fallen Biafra heroes and their struggle for self-determination’’ on 30th May.
The state CP urged the people to disregard such orders, as “IPOB has no power to declare a public holiday’’.
He added that the people in the state should go about their normal activities as the law was fully on ground o protect them.
He said: “The Command is fully ready. We just finished a show of force.
“The police and other sister security agencies are ready to tackle all trouble makers, especially with Sit-at-Home by IPOB.
“We are ready to ensure that citizens go about their businesses without molestation.
“We are asking people to come out and pursue their normal human and economic activities on the day of the Sit-at-Home (May 30),” he said.
