Madonna Passionately Weighs In On Jackson Accusations Saying He Is “Innocent Until Proven Guilty”

In a recent interview with British Vogue Madonna came out in passionate defense of her friend Michael Jackson following the most recent sex abuse allegations in Leaving Neverland.

Madonna and Jackson were close friends since the 1980’s with Madonna even taking Jackson as her date to the 1991 Oscars.

She has finally spoke out about the extremely controversial documentary Leaving Neverland by saying, “I don’t have a lynch-mob mentality, so in my mind, people are innocent until proven guilty.”

The pop star, still looking freakin’ amazing in her 60’s, went on to say, “I’ve had a thousand accusations hurled at me that are not true. So my attitude when people tell me things about people is, ‘Can you prove it?’”

The principal is obviously sound, that we shouldn’t judge people based on accusations without proof; but for me, the problem with Madonna’s defense of Jackson came in her next statements.

When asked what could be done to prove Jackson’s guilt and finally get to the bottom of this issue, Madonna naively replied:

“I don’t know, I haven’t seen the film. But I guess it would be people recounting actual events – but then, of course, people sometimes lie […] So I always say, ‘What’s the agenda? What do people want out of this? Are there people asking for money, is there some kind of extortion thing happening?’ I would take all of those things into consideration.”

Wow, thanks for that resoundingly hyper-useless, dewy-eyed, and quite frankly, rambling sound-bite of an explanation there Madonna.

The problem with this isn’t just that she aimlessly pads around a freakin’ answer – it’s the simple fact that she hasn’t seen the film and yet feels quite happy to use her immensely powerful platform to undermine the accusations against Jackson without any apparent thought for the men making the accusations.

Obviously people should be ‘innocent until proven guilty’, that’s a given; however, for Madonna to so naively weigh in with such a strong opinion on this very sensitive issue (by so blatantly confessing to not having seen the film and yet undermining the accusations which should be taken seriously) only keeps alive a culture in which people freely use uninformed opinion to sway serious arguments online… which she is supposedly freakin’ against.

What annoys me is that I obviously agree with her that people are innocent until proven guilty, that’s a given, and I fervently believe that we should avoid a mob mentality which can be very quickly adopted on the internet nowadays!

However, her naivety causes her to come off a little hypocritical. In fact, the sheer disregard with which she treats the accusations having not even seen the film contains a dangerous point of view of: ‘well, people can lie so why should I believe or look into anything?’ which is a truly bleak, and dangerous, attitude to have in life.

Madonna’s interview with British Vogue comes ahead of the release of her 14th studio album Madame X – and as someone who finds it baffling how to even write one song, I can’t freakin’ believe she’s been able to knock out 14 albums full!

Whilst I’ve got my problems with the woman… you can’t deny she’s certainly freakin’ talented!

What do you make of Madonna’s comments? Do you think she should have weighed in like this without having done her research? Let me know in the comments! AAx
