I didn’t go to the Senate to be silent - Shehu Sani

Senator Shehu Sani says he didn’t become a member of Nigeria’s upper legislative chamber to be silent.

The lawmaker who represents Kaduna Central said this on Wednesday while revealing his encounter with a fellow lawmaker during plenary on Tuesday.

According to Sani, he was attacked by a Katsina lawmaker for always standing up to talk about insecurity in some parts of the country — However, the Senate president Bukola Saraki intervened and affirmed his rights.

On Tuesday at the Plenary, a Katsina senator tried to attack me for ‘always standing up to speak on insecurity, kidnappings, and killings in the country’, until the SP intervened and affirmed my rights. I didn’t go to the Senate to be silent. Our conscience and convictions are our compasses, he said.
