Footage Of Arcade Claw Machine Using Real Dogs As Prizes Causes Absolute Outrage

Folks, I’ve been on the internet a pretty long time at this point, and during my time online, I have seen some pretty ridiculous, some pretty wild, some pretty batcr*p crazy and let’s face it… some pretty blood-boiling things. But this next thing I’m about to tell you, folks, is something I never, ever, ever thought I’d ever have to write about and it is without a doubt THE most blood-curdling thing I’ve ever had the displeasure of bringing to your attention. And unfortunately, no, this time I am not being dramatic.

Okay so, I’m pretty sure we all know about those incredibly frustrating arcade games where you put in some money and you spend the best part of a day trying to win a prize that probably cost 25 cents to make yet here you are spending $20 to win one.

Well, these machines normally leave you feeling angry because you are 99% sure it’s freakin’ rigged due to the fact that damn claw just won’t grip that damn prize properly! Yeah… I’ve been burned by a few of them before. This particular machine, as with all of them, has also been a great source of anger in people’s lives. However, the anger over this machine has been sparked by a much serious reason.

You can watch anger-inducing footage for yourself below:

Normally, in these machines, you’ll find some pretty tantalizing prizes – such as cuddly toys of your favorite characters, large bags of your favorite candy, some of the even fancier machines may even offer you prizes such as iPads or designer gear! What I’m trying to say is, these are things you’d pretty much expect to see inside a claw machine, right?

Well, the claw machine in question shows what appears to be actual live dogs up for grabs as prizes inside the glass container. Yep. That’s right – live freakin’ dogs.

As you can see, the footage shows around a dozen teeny little dogs crammed into teeny little buckets as the large metal claw drops down and snatches at them. Then… even more horrifically, at the end of the video, a person can actually be seen holding one of the dogs in their hands.

It’s not exactly clear where or when the footage itself was taken, but well-known biologist Daniel Schneider shared the video himself on Twitter followed by the caption: “Some of those puppies in that game in #Japan are real. WTF. RT. #BeKindToAnimals”

However, as with many clips of a similar nature, it has also been reported that this clip may have actually originated from China. I mean, whatever the case may be, and wherever it may be from, there’s no denying that fact that the footage poses some SERIOUS animal welfare questions.

Beyond the very obvious danger posed by the claw itself, the dogs could also very well be kept in incredibly unsanitary conditions and just do not have enough space whatsoever. Furthermore, the actual gifting of dogs as prizes seriously does NOT take into account the weight of responsibility that comes with owning a pet dog… making it easy for the dogs to become vulnerable to neglect.

Elisa Allen, who is the director of the animal’s rights activist group PETA (Maybe you’ve heard of them?) has now described the video of ‘a matter of life and death’.

Speaking to The Mirror, she said: “Animals aren’t disposable toys, and PETA urges Chinese authorities to look into this video as a matter of urgency – if the dogs are real, it’s not a harmless arcade game but rather a matter of life and death.

“Live animals – including lobsters, turtles, and crabs – are commonly sold in claw machines across China.

“They can easily be hurt by being repeatedly dropped, and some have been left to endure a painful death from dehydration or starvation.”

Responding to the video which has been circulating on Twitter, people were obviously just as disgusted.

One person said: “That is so cruel! And what if that thing poke out one or both of their eyes?????”

Another said: “That is horrible. Poor things must be terrified.”

A third added: “Can we just stop producing humans already?”

Last year, a crocodile at a zoo in China was left bleeding after visitors threw rocks at him to see whether he was real… so despite the fact that this is shocking behavior to people all over the world, in China, it’s just another day of treating animals like trash.

If there is one thing I hope, however, it’s that PETA actually freakin’ DO something in order to help these poor creatures rather than just Tweet about it for a few days before starting another one of their pointless “shock-tactic” campaigns about being vegan… AS PER USUAL.

How has this one made you feel folks? What would you do if you saw this going on in your local arcade? I don’t know about you, but I feel absolutely SICK to my stomach. Let me know in the comments! And don’t forget to share this with all your friends and family in order to spread this incredibly shocking footage as far as possible. AAx
