Curvy Fourth-Grade Teacher Going Viral For Her Figure Hugging Outfits Sparks Dress Code Debate Controversy

Dress codes. Sometimes they can be seriously tricky things to follow!

Alas! If only it was as simple as wearing pants or not wearing pants! Once again, this world is easier to navigate for the male species…

When you’re a woman there’s a whole host of ways to go wrong when getting dressed. Whether you’re going to work, a wedding, the mall or the in-laws, everybody has a freakin’ opinion on your; legs, tummy, cleavage, bra straps, shoulders, arms, neckline and whether it is okay/not okay for them to be showing.

You just can’t win.

And teachers are by no means exempt from this struggle! To make matter worse, they have a freakin’ tonne of parents ready to weigh in on what they’re wearing and sometimes (should their photos be found of particular interest to the general public…) the wonderful world of the internet will have a say as well…

Nobody knows this better than Patrice Brown.

Brown works as a teachers Aide in Atlanta. Whilst you think people might want to celebrate the amazing work she does for the younger generation some people were more hung up on Brown’s attire.

When photos from Brown’s Instagram account went viral plenty of people were big fans of her fab figure but others felt her curve-complimenting outfits weren’t appropriate for the workplace.

The widely circulated images of Brown’s school outfits gained so much online backlash that the Atlanta Public School District felt compelled to issue a statement that Brown had been “given guidance” on how to better follow the APS Employee Dress Code.

Brown was quickly titled “Teacher Bae” by the online community. “Bae” means a loved one, apparently, I googled it and I think it’s a term the youth enjoy using… But anyway…

So, despite the backlash, Brown is clearly much loved by the online community and her charming smile and bubbly nature are sure to have endeared her to the little ones she teaches!

So, why all the fuss?!

Sure, Brown does wear some form-fitting clothes but her neckline is always high? The hem of her dresses or skirts are knee length and she almost always wears thick black tights with the garments that she opts for. She’s won the genetic lottery and is an avid gym goer, why should she have to disguise the junk in the trunk?!

Maybe some think her hourglass figure is somehow stealing their children’s innocence? What nonsense! Kids ought to know that people come in all shapes and sizes and, just because somebody wears something form fitted and happens to have a widely considered “sexy” frame, doesn’t make it okay to harass or shame that person!

I feel like people are projecting their own conceptions of what is “sexy” onto a woman who just wants to feel good in herself and teach her kids!

You can’t help but think that if a less curvy woman was wearing Brown’s outfits nobody would say a thing. But because Brown has features that are out of her control, she’s somehow fair game to criticize?!

I don’t think she should have to wear a potato sack just for the “comfort” of others (who are probably just jealous anyway!) It’s just her body at the end of the day, it’s not a weapon, it’s not obscene and it’s not going “corrupt” others just by existing.

Brown does have a public Instagram account with 296,000 followers. Her posts on this page feature slightly more risque outfits, so to some extent you can understand parents concerns that their children (her students) will find those images and assume certain things… but then again, if you educate your kids right they should know there’s nothing “wrong” with the female form.

I think we just need to be more accepting of different body-types on the whole and stop assuming that a persons shape determines their character!

Brown looks stunning in her photographs, has serious style and is helping kids each and every day. She doesn’t deserve the kind of negative attention she has been getting!
