BREAKING: Installation of new four Emirs in Kano emirate declared invalid
The appointment and the installation of four new emirs by Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of Kano state, has been declared illegal by a Kano state high court sitting in Ungogo.
The presiding judge Nasiru Saminu, ordered a return to status quo until the hearing of the suit against the appointment of the news emirs.
Recall the state high court had issued an ex parte ordering the stop of the installation of new emirs and order Ganduje failed to comply with.
Kano kingmakers, on Tuesday, filed a suit against the governor and state government challenging the balkanization of the emirate.
Madakin Kano, district head of Dawakintofa; Yusuf Nabahani, district head of Wudil; Abdullahi Sarki-Ibrahim, district head of Gabasawa; and Bello Abubakar, district head of Dambatta, Mukhtar Adnan, are the kingmakers who took the legal action.
