Senator Adeleke wasn’t in the examination hall – Witnesses tell court
Two witnesses have testified against Senator Ademola Adeleke in an ongoing of examination malpractice allegations against him.
In the seven count amended charge against the lawmaker, who had a few weeks ago been declared winner of the Osun State governorship election, he was accused of not sitting for the Senior School Certificate Examination and not possessing a certificate.
In the trial at the Federal High Court Abuja, witnesses called on Wednesday said, they didn’t see the lawmaker in the examination hall.
Emmanuel Adesola and Enoch Adigun, both teachers, told the court that they were the invigilators of the examinations at Ojo -Aro Community Grammar School in Osun State in 2017, and Adeleke was conspicuously absent.
According to Adesola, while being led in evidence by the prosecutor Mr Simon Lough, he said:
“I could not identify any student without the school album since it was my first time there so the principal and the register helped me to identify them as I used the list I had to call the students into the hall.
“I didn’t see any of the defendants in the examination hall; Sen. Adeleke was not in the examination hall, he is a public figure so I would have recognised him,” he said.
The other witness, Adigun said he saw the second defendant, Sikiru Adeleke in the examination hall while he invigilated.
Adigun said he was shocked to see Sikiru in the examination hall, because he was the most mature student in the hall but however mentioned that apart from Sikiru, he didn’t see Adeleke in the examination.
Justice Inyang Ekwo adjourned the matter until June 10 and 11 for continuation of hearing.never
