Over 150 dead as bomb goes off in churches and hotels in Sri Lanka

More than 150 people have been confirmed dead in an Easter Sunday terrorist attack in Sri Lanka.

According to reports, the attack targeted Christians with six explosions ripping through high-end hotels and churches.

As many as 500 people and 35 foreigners – from the UK, US and Netherlands are said to be amongst the dead.

A security official, who spoke with newsmen said two of the blasts may have been carried out by suicide bombers.Over 150 dead as bomb goes off in churches and hotels in Sri Lanka

45 people, according to officials were killed in Colombo, at three hotels and a church while another 67 died in the church attack in Negombo, north of the capital.

Reports also revealed that another 25 dead at a church in Batticaloa. The hotels hit were identified as Shangri-La Colombo, Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo and the Cinnamon Grand Colombo.
