Meet The 72-Year-Old Grandmother Who’s Been Married To This 19-Year-Old For Two Years

Ahhh, love. Isn’t love wonderful? You never know when it’s gonna hit, or who it’s gonna hit… all we know that, when it does, it feels like being wrapped in a big cozy wozy blanket made of hugs and smiles and-

Yeah okay, enough of that. Love really is pretty great, though. And one of the greatest things about it is that it can happen in the most unexpected places at the most unexpected times.

When it comes down to love, absolutely anything is possible. For example, in a very bizarre twist of events, thanks to love, a 72-year-old grandmother (who actually has four of her own children and six grandchildren) has met and married her beloved beau – a 19-year-old boy… after she met him at (you may wanna prepare yourself for this one) her own son’s funeral.

Yeah… I know.

But apparently, it really is love. She can’t stop talking about him and also claims that he is a ‘wonderful lover’ – well, according to the Daily Mail that is. And anyway, you know what they say; “Age is just a number!” …although some numbers are decidedly bigger than others. Alas, such is the case for dear 72-year-old Almeda Errel.

Despite the fact that there is an age gap of almost 53 whole years, she went ahead and fell in love with her husband of 2-years, Gary Hardwick. They apparently had a whirlwind romance, as sweetheart Gary proposed to her merely two very short weeks after they first began dating.

When referring to her last relationship during a video on her own personal YouTube channel (yep, that’s right! She has her own YouTube channel too, folks) Almeda said; “I was married for 43 years and there wasn’t a lot of kissy, huggy stuff going on… no romance.”

Whereas when she speaks about her current relationship she describes it as “whirlwind”. She also added; “We are always complimenting and kissing. We’re enjoying our relationship. When you meet that perfect one, that’s when you know you don’t want to lose that feeling.”

So sweet!

What makes this whole thing even cuter, is the fact that the couple actually abstained from sex until they were married. And afterward… well, let’s just say that they both described each other as a “wonderful lover”. Almeda also talks about how the little things within their relationship make a world of difference, and about just how thankful they are for each other.

“In our relationship, we do little things each day to help each other out whether he cooks me supper or mops for me,” she said. “We always thank each other. It’s the little things like that, cooking a meal, washing dishes.” Surprisingly, Gary is actually younger than one of Almeda’s grandsons, but he believes that he is actually really “mature for his age”.

(I won’t even mention the fact that EVERY boy thinks that at every EVERY age.)

Before he met Almeda, Gary had just come out of a relationship with a… 77-year-old woman. So I think it’s safe to say, this guy 100% has a type. For Almeda and Gary, it was love at first sight.

They, wildly enough, met at Almeda’s sons funeral and they had reportedly locked eyes immediately. And since that fateful day, she knew that he was the one. After offering his condolences to her, he was on her mind all the time despite not having any contact after the funeral.

However, as does happen with the most glorious of love stories, fate brought them right back together and they met again at Chuck E Cheese during a birthday party (I swear I’m not making this up). They hit it off once again, and have been together ever since! They are reportedly very, very happy.

However, as you can probably imagine, their unusual relationship has certainly not been met with open arms by some of their own family members. But love is love after all, even despite their massive age difference.

“I never feel as though I’m missing out on anything by being married to Almeda,” Gary said. “I’m really mature for my age, I do not fit into the young age bracket at all. I’ve never been attracted to younger women. Even when I was 13 or 14, I’ve always had an attraction for older women and when I told my grandmother, who raised me, I didn’t know how she would take it. But she accepted us.”

As to his quick proposal, he explained, “A lot of people wait years to get married and everyone has different opinions on getting married quickly. But we knew we were in love, so I jumped on that. The first time we made love was on our wedding night. It was an amazing experience. There was such a deep connection there. She’s a wonderful lover.”

And in case you’re sat there thinking that this situation is more than a little odd, there is apparently a reason as to why men prefer older women. According to Psychology Today, a man’s sexual hormones peak at 18, whereas a woman’s only peaks by 30.

So, in other words, a man increases his chances of being sexually compatible with his partner if he marries an older woman (gotta love science eh!?) It also helps with parenting, as the experience that comes along with it makes it easier.

Older women also have a plethora of experience behind them and they know what they want from a relationship, which saves a lot of somewhat unnecessary squabbles. They also feel more alive when they have a younger partner… for obvious reasons.

Besides, having a younger suitor means that they will look up to you and be impressed with your success and achievements. Younger men are also more spontaneous which is a big plus for older women… and pretty much any straight woman who’s ever been married to any man anywhere on the planet!
