Kolade Johnson: Court remands ‘trigger-happy’ police in prison
Dismissed police officer, Olalekan Ogunyemi who killed Kolade Johnson in Lagos on Sunday has been remanded by An Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
The magistrate, A.O. Salawu, on Friday ordered that the suspect be remanded at Ikoyi Prisons, until State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) decides next lime of action.
It was revealed by prosecutor, Kehinde Olatunde, a police inspector, Ogunyemi(45) killed the 36-year-old football fan at Onipetesi Estate, Idi-Mangoro, Lagos at past 5pm with his Ak 47 rifle.
Prosecutor revealed also that the offense committed by Ogunyemi, 45, who resides at No. 17, Alhaji Ede St., Igando, contravened the provisions of Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Section 223 stipulates a death sentence if convicted.
The Magistrate, Mrs Salawu adjourned the case until May 6, granting the application of the prosecutor and ordered that Ogunyemi be remanded for 30 days.
