Following latest appeal court judgement, Adeleke itches closer to snatch Osun governorship seat
The Court of Appeal sitting in Akure, Ondo State, has affirmed the eligibility of Osun State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke, to hold position.
The judgement which was given by Justice M A Damjuma, on Saturday, dismissed the appeal against an earlier judgment of Osogbo High Court, which had upheld the eligibility of Adeleke to contest for the governorship of Osun State.
The Appeal Court in Akure dismissed the appeal on three ground — that the court has no jurisdiction to hear the case, that the sponsored petitioner, one Kingsley Awosiyan from Ife Central, has no locus standi to file the case and lastly, that the matter was brought to court outside the stipulated 14 days after the conduct of the governorship primary election.
The judgement means that the controversy surrounding the qualification and eligibility of Senator Adeleke to contest the 2018 Osun State governorship election has been buried.
