Chinese Man Conferred Traditional Chieftaincy in Kano [Pictures]

A Chinese trader named Mike Zhang has been turbanned as a traditional ruler in the city of Kano, Nigeria.

The event took place in Kano on Thursday. Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi at a traditional ceremony conferred on Mike Zhang, the title of Wakilin Yan China, meaning the leader of the Chinese residents, as his head was wrapped in a turban.

Mike Zhang chieftaincy is believed to serve as a medium to bridge the gap between the large Chinese community and indigenes of Kano.
