Britney’s First Appearance After Mental Health Facility Stay Shamelessly Mocked By Social Media Users

Britney Spears’ mental health has been a hot topic amongst a lot of media outlets. Rising to fame at an incredibly early age it’s understandable that Spears would struggle to manage certain elements of her life. Constantly photographed and mercilessly scrutinized the pop-singer has had a pretty tough time of it.
Despite the fame and fortune, Spears is no less susceptible to mental health issues than the rest of us and should receive no less sympathy! When she checked into a mental health facility last month the mood certainly seemed to be supportive. This Instagram post, made prior to her admittance into the facility, was met with widespread approval.

Reportedly, Spears was struggling after her father was diagnosed with a serious health condition. Any of us would be in the same freakin’ boat, right?!
And though a lot of people expressed sympathy for Britney’s heartbreaking news, the sympathy seems to have dried up in some when this image of Spears, newly released from the facility she was staying in, was published.

The image was snapped this Easter Sunday when Spears is believed to have been released for the day to spend time with her family and partner. It is thought Spears will be returning to the facility for further treatment.
The snap has been met with a barrage of criticism, with many social media users mocking Britney’s image rather than, y’know, the huge emotional struggle she’s going through right now.
We don’t like to give bullies much of a platform, but just so you get a flavor of the nonsense people are talking…
First things first, Britney is going through a hard time. Give the woman a freakin’ break! Try some compassion and let the poor woman have a day off, she’s spending a religious holiday with her nearest and dearest during a testing time for her. She’s not committing any crimes!
Secondly, why are people tearing into her for how she looks?! She looks better than I do on a freakin’ good day! She’s still nicely dressed and pretty! Why do people expect photoshop levels of beauty every damn time a woman steps out into the street?! Fair enough if you’re concerned she looks ill, but tearing into her because she doesn’t have on ten inches of makeup and five-inch heels?! Puh-lease.
And thirdly, why does she have to look beautiful to be considered sane? Our girl is going through some stuff, so maybe her hair won’t be perfectly coiffed but that’s surely not grounds to deny her a freakin’ day out!
This woman is a national treasure and if we’re not prepared to stick by her through the highs and lows of mental health (which most of us struggle with in our own lives!) then I hate to say it, but maybe we don’t deserve the smash hits she’s blessed us with!
Let’s tackle this negativity by making “Hit Me Baby One More Time” the national anthem. I think everybody would be up for that.

Britney left the facility with her boyfriend on Easter. You can tell how protective he is of her, we can’t imagine how awful it must be to see a loved one struggle like this and know horrible comments will be made on social media. But not over here! We want to support anyone struggling with mental health issues, regardless of whether or not they “look pretty” whilst facing that struggle.
Although some condemned Britney leaving the facility, arguing she would not get better outside of it, I think it’s fair to say that one day out, surrounded by loved ones on a holiday is a pretty safe and healthy environment!
But this is all complicated by some fans expressing concerns that Britney is being held at the facility against her will. Indeed, some believe that Britney’s team have forced her to the facility and that her appearance is evidence that she is not being treated properly…
The ‘Free Britney’ movement is in agreement that Britney did not go to the facility of her own admission… I don’t know what to freakin’ believe anymore!
All I know is this… It’s not okay to bully someone for how they look during a battle with mental health. I wish Britney all the best in her ongoing recovery and hope those trying to shame her for her looks or for taking a day to enjoy herself, can see that life isn’t always about looking amazing and strictly following the rules!
Let’s hope the media stops dragging Spears down on her road to recovery! And if the ‘Free Britney’ movement is right? Let’s hope they get this sorted quickly!
