While responding to the petition by Atiku and his party, PDP which they filed before the presidential election petition to challenge the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 23rd election.

According to the ruling party, Atiku was born on November 25, 1946 in Jada, Adamawa state, which was then in Northern Cameroon; hence, Cameroonian not Nigerian.

The APC counsel, Lateef Fagbemi, this therefore disqualifies the former vice president, from contesting election.

Referencing section 131(a) of the 1999 constitution which states that has to be a Nigerian citizen, to enable him eligible to  by birth to contest for the highest office in the land.

The APC counsel asked the tribunal to void all votes scores by Atiku in the just concluded presidential election — And also dismiss Atiku/PDP petition.
