You Can Now Buy Incredibly Realistic Masks Of Your Pets Head, And They’re Terrifying
These days, you can buy just about anything on the internet. From the incredibly useful to the incredibly bizarre, and today folks, I’m here to show you an item from the “incredibly bizarre” aisle.
You can now buy terrifyingly realistic masks that are made to look exactly like your pet. No…. really.
Maybe giant creepy animal masks are your thing? I mean hey, no judgment here! I guess I can kinda see the appeal of owning something which is in the exact likeness of your favorite little creature on the planet… (also, I’d DEFINITELY be in line to buy one too so)
There are two (yes TWO) Japanese companies – because, as they say, two heads are always better than one, right? Right? Sorry. ANYWAY – these two Japanese companies have recently put their weird yet wonderful masked heads together to come up with this insane but pretty impressive concept, and they are now rolling it out for you to partake in too.
The ingenious folk over at the creative planning office Shindo Rinka along with the expert craftsmen over at modeling workshop 91 (which FYI, is pronounced kyuu-ii) only ask for you to submit one picture of your pet and then, VOILA, they work up some of their magic and set to work on bringing us all closer together or furry besties. Whether they should or not is a totally different story.
And in case you’re wondering: no, the concept is not limited to cats, or any domestic pet you may own, either. You can literally order a mask of any animal imaginable – pet nor not. I’m talking gorillas, horses, blobfishes… if you can get a picture of it, they can make it for you, no questions asked.
However, as you can probably imagine, cats seem to be the most popular example of these creations… which, for me, just adds a whole layer to the phrase “crazy cat people”… BUT like I said, no judgment here! No judgment… at all…
In a recent press release, you can see a real example of a finished masked which is modeled after Rui, a Bengal kitty who apparently lives in Kyoto.
There’s also a VIDEO of the finished product too, if you’re feeling brave enough (I know you’re freakin’ curious:
Well if you’re now sat there with your wallet in your hand poised and ready to purchase, you may want to hang on for one more moment – it may not be that easy. Currently, the only way to actually purchase one of these masks is through an online contact form which can be found on the actual Shindo website. You then fill out your payment information and then check a box that says ‘My Family’. Hmmmm.
Then, once they have accepted your order, the craftsmen will go about sculpting a mold, applying some fake fur and then the unique patterns and colors of your beloved pet are filled in to create the fully personalized and incredibly realistic product of what is bound to be your pet’s worst nightmare.
Another thing you may want to know before you start filling in your life story on their website is, exactly how much will this whole thing cost you? Well, here’s the thing. To acquire one of these nightmare-inducing masks, it’ll set you back a hefty 300,000¥… which is basically the equivalent of $2700.
In all honesty, if you’re SO set on looking like the human twin to your pet, you may as well just take that money and use it to get complete and utter facial reconstruction instead, so you can be yours and, your pets, I guess, true self every single day.
Like I said… whatever floats your boat!
So how about it folks, is this something you’d be more than willing to spend your money on? Maybe you already have? If you have any weird pet accessories I would love to see them… post a picture or let me know about them in the comments! And don’t forget to share this with all your friends and family in case it’s something they totally need in their life too! x
