If you ask most people, they’ll tell you that there’s no greater joy in life than being a parent, and for a lot of people, it’s true.

However, what they probably won’t mention along with that is that being a parent is pretty, freakin’ rough. I mean, trying to juggle work, do the household chores and meeting all the needs of your children and often your partner can sometimes obviously get overwhelming. But it’s especially tough for parents who are in fact raising children that also have disabilities too.

Luckily, however, there are still some incredibly kind people out there in this big, wide world, who are more than happy to step in and lend a hand.

For example, recently, a mother of two, named Jessica Nash Donnahoo, shared a post she wrote to Spectrum Internet in order to praise their employee who did such a thing for her one day.

Jessica, who is a part-time nurse, is currently raising two children – a three-year-old named Sailor (which, FYO, is like the coolest name I’ve ever heard for a child) and a two-year-old named Sunny (again, great, great name). However, her son Sailor, much like his name, is no ordinary little boy. After trying to conceive for quite some time, Jessica and her husband, whose name is Drew, were told that literally, their only option was to adopt, and that is how wonderful little Sailor came into their lives. However, it didn’t take long for the family to notice Sailor’s health issues:

“My son was born with two rare, unrelated brain defects: Optic Nerve Hypoplasia, or ONH, which means his optic nerves didn’t fully form in utero and he is blind as a result. The other is a Chiari Malformation. Sailor also has a seizure disorder. We have a team of pediatricians, neurologists, endocrinologist, ophthalmologist, and gastroenterologist who help follow his health closely,” Jessica originally told Bored Panda.

The mother, Jessica said, that; “Sailor has several developmental delays and is unable to communicate his needs, such as hunger, pain, etc. I try to meet all of his needs but, like any toddler, he is just sometimes unhappy.”

There was one particular morning which was especially tough for the little boy, and because of it he just couldn’t stop crying and his hardworking mom was completely overwhelmed with chores and taking care of his sister Sunny. That same morning an internet technician visited their home so that he could upgrade their internet and as Jessica puts it in her post (below), he walked into a complete and utter “mess”. However, the technician named Robert did the absolute best he could to help.

“Dear Spectrum Internet,
Today your technician Robert came to our home to upgrade our internet and help us start up TV streaming. He walked into a mess. My son, Sailor, is three years old. He was born with two rare brain defects and he is blind. He is unable to communicate his needs, and today has been rough for him. He has been crying all morning. I’ve been trying to soothe him while also meeting the needs of my two year old daughter, cleaning, washing dishes, and doing laundry while my husband works. It’s just been a tough day. When Robert walked in and started talking, Sailor ran to him and reached up. Robert didn’t seem bothered at all and, instead, held my son off and on for the whole 45 minutes he was in our home. He snuggled him close while I folded laundry. It was a huge relief to this tired momma. Robert could have walked in, rushed, and left but instead he saw a need greater than internet and met it. That’s beyond customer service- it’s humanity at its best. Robert deserves a raise… a promotion… something! He’s an asset to your company and I will never forget his kindness.
Sincerely,
Jessica”

“Due to his blindness, Sailor has sensory issues and does not have a normal sleep/wake cycle. This means he can get very overwhelmed by certain noises and situations. He also often wakes up all through the night because he doesn’t know if it’s day or night. He had been up all through the night before this day,” Jessica explains why her little boy was particularly so unhappy that morning.

ANd the mother could not help but hide her appreciation whatsoever and so decided to make a post about Robert’s kindness in hopes that Spectrum would see it. And then, wonderfully, the company reached out to her.

“Rob actually works for a subcontractor but the VP of Spectrum Enterprises called me directly to thank me for the post and to report that they’re proud of Rob’s choice to step in and help with my son! The VP also has a special needs child and was touched by Rob’s act of kindness.”

Jessica has reportedly mentioned just how happy she is that so many people have been able t read her story.

“I think that we live in a world where we are so overwhelmed with news of politics, violence, and drugs. I think this resonated with so many people because we all need to have our faith in humanity restored at times. This post about one complete stranger doing something so kind for another is proof that there still good people out there!” she said.

And I couldn’t agree more!

Here’s how people reacted

See folks? It’s not all doom and gloom out there, there are still angels among us and they can be found every day if you only look hard enough!
