The Hero of the Christchurch Attack Reveals How He Made the Shooter Flee

As New Zealand mourns the victims of the 49-killed Christchurch attacks, the heroic deeds of a young man will remain forever in the country’s archives.

Abdul Aziz, a refugee, is the hero who managed to scare the Australian gunman. His brave intervention helped avoid a heavier balance sheet.

Syed Mazharuddin witnessed the shooting at Linwood Mosque in Christchurch. The latter said that the gunman entered the mosque and began shooting at the worshipers.

“People were scared and there were shouts and I tried to get away. The time I took shelter, this guy came through the main door and it’s a small mosque – there were about 60 to 70 people. Right next to the front door, there were elderly people praying and he started shooting at them, “he told New Zealand Herald.

A young man who worked at the mosque bravely seized the opportunity to take control of the situation before the arrival of the police.

“The hero pursued him and managed to sneak between the parked cars and grab an empty weapon left behind by the shooter. But there were people waiting for him in the car and he fled. ” Shortly after the killer was arrested by two policemen.

Mazharuddin lost two of his friends in the attack. “I ran, then the police arrived and did not let me come back, so I could not save my friend, he was bleeding a lot. It took more than half an hour before the ambulance arrived. He must have already died.

At least 49 people were killed and 40 others seriously injured during coordinated terrorist attacks on Friday afternoon. Innocent believers were shot at close range as they prayed.
