‘Nigeria will burn’ – Lawmakers warns of impending chaos
Following the inconclusiveness of some state elections, lawmakers in the Green Chamber have warned the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against attempts to rig the forthcoming supplementary elections in some states.
Sunday Karimi (PDP, Kogi) posed that declaring elections inconclusive is not only an attempt to rig by INEC and but also illegal. He called for the House to revisit the Electoral Act as a step towards curbing this new trend.
Also speaking was Ali Madaki (PDP, Kano), he argued that declaring election inconclusiveness, in particular, reference to that of Kano, was capable of throwing the state into chaos. He said;
I want to tell them (APC, & INEC) that Kano is different. Kano is not Lagos and the people will not accept a rigged re-run election. We must resist that, and Nigeria will burn if they insist.
