Keanu Reeves Hires A Minibus For His Fellow Stranded Airport Passengers And Rides With Them

They say you should never meet your heroes, because you’ll only end up being disappointed. However, try telling that to the lucky passengers who ended up riding the bus with Keanu Reeves over the weekend.

Keanu has long been had a positive reputation for being super friendly and down-to-earth whenever he meets his fans, but one lucky group of people got more than they bargained for when they ended up embarking on a 100-mile trip with the Bill & Ted star.

Keanu was aboard a United Airlines flight from San Francisco to Burbank, Los Angeles, over the weekend, when it was announced that the plane had to make an emergency landing in Bakersfield, some 100 miles short of their destination.

So, what was Keanu going to do? Well, rather than call a chauffeur service or helicopter to pick him up (and leave his fellow travelers high and dry), he embraced the situation and got involved with his fellow passengers.

For all that the flight situation was a giant pain in the butt, having the star of The Matrix in your little group certainly took the edge off!

Once everyone had got used to the fact that they were stuck in an airport with Neo, it was time to be practical and figure out what they were going to do. Keanu took control of the situation, organizing a minibus for his new friends, and suggesting that they jump in with him and ‘hit the road’ rather than waiting three hours for the baggage claim staff to arrive.

Of course, the passengers were more than happy to do so, and deal with their baggage later on through customer services. After all, it’s not every day you get to hang out with Keanu Reeves!

The story was captured on Snapchat by one of the passengers at the airport, and subsequently shared on Twitter.

Once everyone was on board, they hit the road, and Keanu took the opportunity to educate and entertain his fellow passengers with some Bakersfield trivia (fresh from Wikipedia) and also searched out the ‘Bakersfield Sound’ on YouTube, the specific strand of country music native to the Californian city, which was developed in the 1950s.

Many of the more tech-savvy social media users, who were following the unfolding trip on Twitter, loved that Keanu uses the browser version of YouTube rather than the app, which is a lot more user-friendly. Give the guy a break – believe it or not, he’s 54 now!

Then, when the time came to part, he shook hands with the first passenger out of the van, saying ‘It was a pleasure to meet you’.

Keanu was then dropped off too, and then wandered off into the sunset – or, more specifically, a nearby Carl’s Jr burger joint. I don’t blame him – sounds like a long day!

He was already in my top 5, but I think after hearing this story, Keanu might just be my favorite Hollywood celebrity of all time!

Keanu’s new movie John Wick: Chapter 3: Parabellum will hit theaters on May 17th.
