Beauty Project Shows The Modeling Skills Of People With Down’s Syndrome

Zebedee Management collaborated with the #RadicalBeautyProject in order to represent people with Down’s Syndrome and show what beautiful models they can be. Sadly, people’s views on Down Syndrome can be very prejudiced which is why this project came to be, to challenge these limiting beliefs.

The project celebrates the beauty, uniqueness and amazing abilities of those with Down Syndrome. The world of makeup and fashion needs to be brought into the modern day where we celebrate all people, this is why this project was so important.

Zebedee Management and the Radical Beauty Project have raised awareness to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day on March 21st. Did you know that it’s on the 21st as people with Down Syndrome have 3 copies of chromosome 21 instead of 2?

These models are all stunning in their outer beauty and their inner beauty. They are so full of pure joy, you can’t help but smile!

1.) Ellie

“Show the world our children are the same as everyone else. They ARE able to achieve their goals in life.” – Yvonne Goldstein, Ellie’s mum

Too right! Ellie is absolutely stunning and purple is most definitely her colour. Down Syndrome doesn’t stop children and young people from achieving their dreams, so people shouldn’t think that it does!

2.) Nino

“Being model is amazing. I feel proud and confident. I like looking good, smelling good, I like photos and catwalk. It’s important for my life, my future. It makes me happy, I love my life.” – says Nino Genua

Nino is such a positive and beautiful soul! He has a passion for modelling but currently works as a trained rugby coach for the Bristol Bears. Nino is absolutely killing it and looks great as a model, I love how much he loves his life, it really puts everything into perspective.

3.) Kate

4.) Sara

“It’s a constant battle for people with DS to be seen by society as so-called normal people who do normal things. It helps to highlight and raise awareness that DS is not something to be feared of nor should it need testing for as though it’s a harmful disease. It’s something to be cherished, grateful for, proud of… it’s something to celebrate like every other living thing.”Jen Zeb, Sara’s mum

This is so beautiful and incredibly true. It’s awful that people with Down Syndrome aren’t called “normal” in today’s society. Although, who wants to be normal? They are happy and beautiful humans, I guess normal would be an insult! Sara has previously worked with River Island, Mountain Warehouse and Matalan.

5.) Jack

Callum loves doing awesome projects like this as it gives him the chance to meet friends and express himself in whatever way he chooses. It’s so important to break down barriers surrounding Down Syndrome and liberate those who have it, seeing it not as a disability but a way of life.

7.) Adam

Adam describes his style as the “bad boy look” and he is definitely rocking it! Adam doesn’t take life too seriously and is an expert at living in the moment, we could all definitely learn a lot from him.

8.) Kathleen

“For me, it means people really love us and they don’t mind Down syndrome.” – Kathleen

It really broke my heart to read this. It is so sad to think that people with Down syndrome actually think that society doesn’t love or accept them just because of the way they are. This perception NEEDS to change and projects like this really help.

9.) Harry

“Hi, I’m Harry. Any excuse to strike a pose or dance, dance, dance. I’m a bit of a prankster too – I just love to make people laugh. That’s what I want you to see. This is me – Harry.”

Harry loves to make jokes and is an all-around bright and bubbly person. His modelling outfit here definitely represents him perfectly and you can tell that he is having the best time!

10.) Isabella

Gabriel deserves to be accepted in society and his personality, beauty and style recognised. This campaign has helped with his confidence and destroys any limiting beliefs.

12.) Cora

14.) Ben

Holly’s mom is so proud of her for being involved in a beauty campaign that will inspire and motivate other girls and boys with Down syndrome. She looks like she is having the time of her life and that’s all that matters!

Frankie even made is on the Sainsbury’s Christmas commercial last year! He is quite literally a shining light of hope and deserves all the opportunities in the world. No one should ever judge someone with Down syndrome before seeing their huge potential.

I think we can all agree that projects like this are vitally important, people Down Syndrome are no different from you and me, they are just less judgemental. So, let us accept everyone in society and don’t put limitations on anyone.
