9 Nurses On Maine Maternity Ward Are All Expecting Within Weeks Of Each Other
Here’s an amazing story coming out of New England, where it seems like there may be ‘something in the water’…
Childbirth really is a miracle, even if it doesn’t feel anything remotely like it while new moms are going through it. I think it’s important that we stop and take time to appreciate those dedicated medical professionals who make so many births possible all year round, in a safe and secure environment.
It seems like the ‘Stork’ has been busy with deliveries over at Maine Medical Center, as a grand total of 9 nurses – all of whom work in labor and delivery – are pregnant.
What’s more, they’re all expecting to give birth within weeks of one another. All of the nurses are due to between April and July this year, but don’t worry, Maine residents – they’ve got people covering their shifts!
The nurses have been speaking to local media about the news, with nurse Erin Grenier expressing her excitement to ABC News affiliate WMTW.
“After each one of us started to say, ‘We’re pregnant,’ I think it was a happier announcement each time, and we’re all there for each other,” nurse Erin said.
This is really special. It’s so important for expectant moms to have a support network around them during pregnancy, and if that support network just so happens to be 8 other dedicated childbirth professionals, all the better!
Eight of the nine pregnant nurses – whose names are Erin Grenier, Rachel Stellmach, Brittney Vervill, Lonnie Souci, Amanda Spear, Samantha Giglio, Nicole Barnes and Holly Selby – were photographed at the Maine Medical Center, which then posted the photo to their Facebook page.
The photo has picked up hundreds of shares and reactions, and quickly attracted lots of excited responses from fans of the page, a lot of whom were former patients at Maine Medical Center.
One new mom, who was local to the area, commented “The very 1st nurse on the left was one of my postpartum nurses when we had our son last month. I feel awful that I don’t remember her name but she is amazing! So sweet and helpful. Wish all these awesome ladies safe deliveries and healthy babiessss”
Another Facebook user joked “DON’T DRINK THE WATER!”, alluding to how remarkable it was that they had all got pregnant around the same time.
As nurse Erin said in her interview, the nurses began to announce their pregnancies one after another, so I have to wonder – did the last couple of nurses decide to get pregnant just so they didn’t feel left out?
I’m joking, of course. I’m so happy for all of them, and I love how happy they all look too!
“It’s really nice coming to work and seeing other people who are just as pregnant and watching their bellies pop and just talking about these experiences that we are going through together,” nurse Amanda Spear said.
I wish all these happy mommies all the best for the future. I’m sure their kids will grow up to be friends, too!
