Sometimes you’ll hear a fact and you’ll think that it’s so strange and crazy that surely it can’t be true? Well, these facts are probably the strangest and craziest you will ever hear and they definitely ARE true!

1.) Scotland’s national animal is a unicorn

This is pretty awesome and Scotland are definitely doing something right to have a unicorn as their national animal. I am a little concerned though, has anyone told Scotland that unicorns don’t exist…? The entire country has been living a lie!
2.) Mantis shrimps can punch with the force of a bullet

Please remind me to never get into a fight with a Mantis Shrimp, it will probably manage to punch me to death! They have the fastest, most powerful punch in nature and yes, it truly is the force of a bullet. Yikes!
3.) Honey never spoils

If you find yourself at the end of the world and come across a 100 year-old bottle of honey, go ahead and eat it! The chemical composition prevents organisms from living it in which technically means that it can never spoil.
4.) Our entire solar system can fit between the Earth and the moon

This sounds completely insane but it’s true! The moon is so far away that every planet in our solar system can fit in the large gap between the Earth and our moon, with some miles to spare!
5.) There are more trees on Earth than stars in the galaxy

I always assumed that stars in the galaxy were endless but apparently not! NASA has said that there could be 100 to 400 billion stars in the Milky Way galaxy. Whereas, planet Earth is home to more than 3 trillion trees! Hopefully it stays that way…

You would think that the biggest tyre manufacturer in the world would make tyres for, you know, real-life cars or something. But NO, apparently LEGO make 50% more tyres than any of the major tyre manufacturers in the world.
7.) Cheetahs can’t roar

Cheetahs can’t roar in the way that tigers and lions can so the found that they actually make is very similar to that of a standard house cat. This is probably the best fact ever, a big, intimidating Cheetah that is an amazing hunter, making the same small meow as a house cat!
8.) The IKEA catalogue is as popular as the Bible and Koran

Yep, people really do love the IKEA catalogue that much…more that 203 million copies of the catalogue are distributed around the world.
9.) You can reattach teeth after they fall out

If you happen to get one of your teeth knocked out somehow, it really isn’t the worst thing in the world because teeth can actually reattach themselves to the root after falling out. If put back into their proper place that is!
10.) Babies are born without kneecap bones

This is the strangest thing that I’ve heard all year but…babies aren’t born with kneecaps?! Humans actually only develop kneecap bones at age 3. This is bizarre and I don’t understand how a kneecap can just grow out of nowhere?!
11.) Penguins have knees!

On the other end of the spectrum, penguins do have knees and are actually born with them unlike us! I have no idea why penguins actually need knees but there you have it.
12.) A glass ball can bounce higher than a rubber ball

If you took a glass ball and a rubber ball of the same size, the glass ball would actually bounce higher! This makes me think why bouncy balls aren’t just made out of glass but I guess that might pose a safety issue…

A rhino’s horn is made out of keratin which is the same substance that our nails are made out of! A rhino’s horn is definitely far stronger though…
14.) Baby carrots are just chopped up big carrots

There’s actually no such thing as baby carrots in nature. They are just chopped up normal carrots and soaked in water. We have been lied to all of this time! I’m going to cause an uprising because of this…
15.) In 2018, Taco Bell was voted the best Mexican restaurant in America

This is actually very surprising and just a little bit sad. Everyone knows that Taco Bell is just an imitation of Mexican food, I’m sure there are far better, small, authentic Mexican restaurants in America that deserve some recognition!
16.) 10% of all the photos in the world have been taken in the last 12 months
I don’t actually understand how this one is possible…10%?! As social media grows bigger and bigger, it does make sense that we are snapping more pictures than ever each and every year.
17.) You are in the top 4% richest people if you earn more than $18,000

Well, this a bit of a depressing fact…maybe next time it’s your birthday you won’t feel quite so excited! A study analyzed more than 2 million deaths and found that strokes and heart attacks rose 18.6% and 21.5% on people’s birthdays. Maybe it’s all of that birthday excitement…
19.) 40% of humans don’t live to see their 1st birthday

This truly is such a heartbreaking fact and we forget just how lucky we are on a daily basis to be alive and to have even made it past our first birthday.
20.) More people go to church in China on Sundays than the WHOLE of Europe
This one really shocks me. Clearly, China are much more religious than Europe, or they are just more dedicated!
