Young British Woman Shows Hairdresser The Instagram Look She Wants, It Doesn’t Exactly Go To Plan

A good hairdresser is worth their weight in gold, which is why most of us go back to the same one, time and and time again. A good haircut can make you feel 10 feet tall, giving you the confidence and sass that you need to take your life up a notch.

On the flip-side of that, there’s also the chance that you could get a haircut which could basically ruin your life until it grows out. Someone who knows that all too well is 22-year-old Brit Lucy Burrows, who says her confidence has taken a nose-dive after receiving a terrible haircut.

Lucy, from Swindon, has long, thick hair, but wanted a trendy, shaved-in undercut style for a new look. Rather than just shaving the appropriate parts of her head, Lucy went a little ambitious with her request, and decided to get an intricate pattern shaved into the shorter part once it was cut down to size.

She got the idea from the picture above, which she had found on Instagram, and so she showed the picture to staff at Barber n’ Bar in Cheltenham.

They say you get what you pay for, and alarm bells should probably have been ringing for Lucy from the moment she was quoted £20 (around $30) for the intricate job. However, Lucy is young, and not exactly rich, so she decided to go with and hope for the best.

After handing over the money, she says she was left with was a mess of wonky lines, that left her seething mad and seriously damaged her self-confidence. I mean, you can see why – just look at it…

Lucy said: “They absolutely destroyed my hair and confidence and I couldn’t even go to work because of this.”

The sales account manager says the salon initially refused to acknowledge their mistake, but then after kicking up a fuss, she was eventually refunded the £20 she paid for the cut and an additional tenner ‘for her upset’. I should think so too! I don’t know how they thought they were going to get away with charging for that job.

Lucy says that she went in for the cut all the way back in August but that her hair is only now just starting to recover.

“I still can’t wear my hair up at all and it looks so bad and messy,” she said. “You can’t tell as much anymore but it still feels very thin to me.”

She added: “After a long argument, the hairdressers admitted they did do it to me and sent back £30 but I am still half bald which obviously isn’t great.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen someone left in tears after getting a fresh trim. Who can forget the poor chap from China we wrote about just last month, who ended up with a massive triangle shaved into his head after he showed the barber a screenshot of what he wanted.

Then again, at least that one could be put down to a misunderstanding between the customer and the barber, whereas what happened to Lucy was just plain incompetence!

Have you ever had a nightmare like this at the salon? Let us know in the comments!
