Tumblr User Posts About Her Dog’s Vegan Diet, Gets Put In Her Place By Vet Commenter

Given how much we love our pets, it’s no surprise that the topic of how to care for them properly can easily become one of hot debate.

While some animals are omnivores, and can pretty much eat anything that we can, this is certainly not the case for dogs and cats, the two most popular types of household pet.

Cats are obligate carnivores, meaning that their diet needs to consist of meat in order for them to stay healthy. While a dog’s ideal diet is a little more varied, there are some things that you simply do not do when it comes to feeding your dog. One of the main ones, as any vet will tell you, is the idea of giving your dog a purely vegan diet.

While the vegetables themselves may not be harmful to your dog, the lack of meat and other nutrients will cause their health to deteriorate in the long run.

This is a subject that came up when a woman posted a picture of the vegan meal she was about to give her Labrador to the blog site Tumblr.

As is often the case on this site, things got heated pretty quickly.

You know what, I have to say that she honestly doesn’t look very excited, and a lot of people on the discussion agreed with me, including this person, who turned out to be a veterinary professional.

I really like this comment – the user got their point across respectfully, and using scientific fact, rather than just cussing them out, as is so often the way. They made a strong argument in a concise way, but that wasn’t enough for some.

As is to be expected on Tumblr, a passive-aggressive rebuttal soon followed.

This pseudo-sceientific nonsense, which referenced Onision of all people, was clearly too much for the other commenter to take, and they came back with a vengeance.

Ohhh boy. Here we go…

Pretty emphatic, but they weren’t anywhere near done with dragging the other commenter through the mud:

I don’t think you could have asked for a more concrete rebuttal, but this person wasn’t done yet. They went on to describe how the dog in the picture looks malnourished.

Well folks, usually I’d ask you to let us know your opinion as to who you thought was right, but I don’t think there’s much doubt as to who won this argument!

It just goes to show – if you don’t know what you’re talking about, don’t get into a debate that you can’t win!
