This Young Artist Upcycles Tires Into Beds For Brazil’s Stray Dogs

I’ve always said that there is a special place in Heaven for those who go out of their way to be kind to animals. This is something that definitely applies to a young Brazilian man by the name of Amarildo Silva.

The young craftsman came up with the genius idea of turning old discarded tires into comfortable beds for Brazil’s many stray dogs. The brilliant idea means that he can ‘upcycle’ waste from his community, while at the same time giving dogs a comfortable, beautiful place to sleep.

Amarildo has already dedicated one year and six months giving comfort and joy to animals, and isn’t planning on stopping any time soon.

Everything started two years ago when Amarildo was looking for a way to make extra income using the trash that people throw in the streets. He always enjoyed making handicrafts with materials that were no longer used and would be otherwise discarded.

By creating something new out of it, he not only contributed to the well-being of the environment but also earned a few extra dollars in the process. He often gives his creations to some of Brazil’s many stray dogs, but also takes commisions from the owners of dogs who are lucky enough to have a roof over their heads.

As you can see from these photos, the animals absolutely love their new beds!

Amarildo got the idea for these crafts when he realized that old tires were being used as a refuge by the dogs that live in the streets, and came up with the idea to bring them the feeling of home and make it more comfortable for animals.

The artist collects the old tires that he finds on the streets, and takes them home to a dedicated room which has become his workshop.

After separating the tires, he cuts, washes and paints them, drawing a unique design for each tire and writing the name of the animal to whom the bed will belong.

Through his work, the artist is able to combine his two biggest passions in life: helping animals, and making things with his hands. It’s great for the welfare of the dogs and cats in his community, and it’s also very positive for the environment to re-use these discarded tires.

Besides the beds, the artist also makes beautiful containers for plants as well. Anything that gets these tyres re-used is a positive!

Amarildo believes that this project will contribute to a more sustainable world, and in future he plans to present even more innovative ideas for generating a positive impact on the world.

Let’s hope that he can continue making beautiful animals happy in the process. It looks like Amarildo has a bright future ahead of him!
