Hardcore Vegan Disinvites All Meat-Eating Family Members From Her Wedding

When it comes to planning your wedding day, it’s easy to get bogged down in details, wanting everything to be perfect. In your quest to make the day perfect, you can lose sight of what the day is all about – sharing the love of your life with your family.

One person who seems to have lost her way a little is an anonymous bride-to-be who posted to a vegan Facebook group, announcing that the meat-eating members of her family would not only not be catered for, but disinvited from the wedding altogether. She even went as far as to describe them as ‘murderers’.

The post was made in a private Facebook group, but has come to light after a Reddit user posted a screenshot of their post to the subreddit by the name of r/insanepeoplefacebook.

As the name suggests, the group shares posts in which Facebook users are deemed to have lost touch with reality a little bit. This time, it was the turn of the hardcore vegan bride.

Reddit user ‘Gelatin_MonKey’ shared a screenshot of the post on the site, which was taken from a Facebook group called ‘Vegan Revolution’. Branding meat-eaters as ‘murderers’, it said:

“When ‘family’ tries to guilt trip you into letting them come to your fully vegan wedding even though they are omnivores.

Just for some context, some family members were told they are not invited to my wedding because we don’t want to host murderers at our wedding, which is supposed to be one of the happiest days of our lives.”

She later gave an update to the post, adding that her and her partner had been previously ‘consistently attacked just for being vegan’ by family members who are now all ‘buddy, buddy again’ in an effort to get an invite.

I don’t know about that, hon… I don’t think the problem is that you’re vegan. It sounds like the problem might be you, and your attitude to those around you.

Although it is unclear what reaction the original post received on Facebook, it’s probably safe to presume that some people would have backed her up in her decision, given that it was posted in a group called ‘VEGAN REVOLUTION’. However, on Reddit it was a totally different kettle of fish.

There were pages of comments condemning the anonymous bride for her extreme views, with many commenting on how ridiculous the ‘murderers’ comment was. There were even a few fellow vegans who criticized the bride, with one writing:

“Got married in November and it was completely vegan. Nobody complained. It’s good food. We wanted to celebrate our marriage while remaining true to our lifestyle. Banning non-vegans is insane and belongs on this sub. I just wanted to clarify the person is insane and not the ideology.”

Another wrote:

“I’m vegan and have a ton of vegan friends all over the US, and a lot have families that consider all-vegan meals hosted by the vegan to be ‘forcing your views down our throats’, weddings included.”

In my view, it’s totally fair for the couple to only serve vegan food at their wedding – it’s their day, after all. However, disinviting family members because they don’t follow your lifestyle is above and beyond.
