Disney Will Hold It’s First Ever Official LGBTQ Pride Event This Year!

WARNING: If you’re a lover of Disney but are offended by basic Human Rights and people loving whoever they freakin’ want to, this is not the article for you. Turn away now.

Okay so everybody left reading this is good-hearted and open-minded, right? Great, allow me to continue.

On June 1st of this year, and for the entirety of June, Disneyland Paris will be becoming the first ever Disney theme park to officially host an event which is dedicated to the celebration of the LGBTQ community. YEP! It’s happening, and it’s AMAZING.

In order to launch it’s “Pride Month”, the theme park itself will be holding a “Magical Pride” event, which will basically feature a parade that will ‘illuminate the streets’ of the Walt Disney Studios park. It’ll also involve a dance party with guest artists and a very rare chance to get to ride some of the worlds most famous rollercoasters late into the night.

Disneyland Paris has actually been holding it’s “Magical Pride” events since 2014, as well as some of the other Disney theme parks across America. However, this is the first time it’ll ever actually be “official”, and will actually be affiliated with Disney itself.

Meaning’ this year’s event on June 1st will be the first one to ever be actually officially organized by The Walt Disney Company, according to, CBS News.

The Disneyland Paris website itself states:

“Live your best life and shine with the joy of diversity at Magical Pride, a dazzling party lighting up Disneyland Paris on 1st June 2019…

…Dress like a dream, feel fabulous and experience Walt Disney Studios Park like never before – loud, proud and alive with all the colors of the rainbow.”

 

And a spokesperson for The Walt Disney Company told NBC News:

“Diversity and equality are strong values at Disneyland Paris, and each year, we host millions of visitors regardless of their origins, gender or sexual orientation…

…We are committed to fostering a welcoming environment for all of our guests where magic is for everyone.”

 

Last year, Disney themes parks all began selling the now famous rainbow Mickey Mouse ears, which have been aptly nicknamed the ‘Mickey Mouse Rainbow’ love hat. They were launched just before Pride 2018 took place.

Whereas back in 2007, Disney opened up Cinderella’s Castle to same-sex weddings, which is just awesome. Originally, the venue was only available to those with a “valid” marriage license, however, despite same-sex marriages still being considered illegal in most places at the time, Disney made it’s marriage ceremonies open to same-sex couples!

It’s known that various Disney Park’s have held what is known as “Gay Days” events since the 1990s, too. This year Orlando’s Walt Disney World’s Gay Days will run from August 13th to August 19th, whereas Disneyland in Anaheim California will be holding it’s own Gay Day from October 4th to October 6th.
