Woman Discovers That Man Whose Blood Saved Her Life A Decade Ago Is Her Husband

Giving blood is one of the nicest and most helpful things that a person can do in our society. For the donor, the usual worst-case scenario is feeling a little dizzy after the blood is taken. For the recipient, it could mean the difference between life and death.

It’s especially helpful for those with rare blood types to donate their blood. Usually, these acts of kindness are anonymous on both ends, and neither the recipient or the donor will know where their blood went, or where it came from. However, there are always exceptions to the rule.

A young man called Lian Zhicheng from Taiwan has donated blood regularly since he was 20 years old, because he knows that his blood could help save a stranger’s life. His act of kindness ended up being much more significant in his life than he ever thought it would be.

11 years ago, a woman called Lin Xiaofen got into a severe car accident, and her blood clotting mechanism wasn’t functioning at the optimum level. Luckily, her condition stabilized after receiving 10 units of blood and two units of isolated platelets.

Lin made a full recovery, and went on to live a normal life. 7 years later, Lim went back to Hsinchu, a city in northern Taiwan, to take over her family business and that’s when she met Lian, a rice dumpling seller. They soon became a couple.

As couples do, they told each other all kinds of stories from their respective pasts. One day, both of them were talking about their respective near-death experience, she told her boyfriend about her treatment in 2008. Upon hearing it, Mr Lian joked: ‘Could it be my blood that you used?’

The more they thought about it, the more plausible this seemed. She requested information about her blood donor from the local blood station, and sure enough, it was Lian’s blood that she had received back in 2008.

“When they told me it was a Mr Lian from Hsinchu, I’m surprised.” she said in a TV interview. You can say that again! Although Taiwan is a small place, the odds must still be incredibly high.

In the same TV interview, Mr Lian said he could feel a telepathic connection between him and Miss Lin before they made the discovery. They get married in March 2018.

Lian encouraged the public to donate blood because “you might have a chance to save your future wife”.

It’s very unlikely, of course, but you will save someone, so please consider doing it anyway! Kindness makes the world go around.
