Meet the ‘African queen’ who is refusing to let HIV define her – Reveals how she got Infected (PHOTOS)

A lot of people are afraid to disclose their HIV status due to the fear of what other people might think of them.

But one ‘African queen’ has decided to not let HIV rule her life, so she made her status known on social media and it inspired other South Africans.

Lebogang Brenda Motsumi, 29, took to her Twitter account to talk about her positive HIV status and she explained to one tweep how she was infected in the first place.

“Good morning, my name is Lebogang Brenda Motsumi aka African Queen. I am NOT HIV, I am LIVING with HIV. I am not the virus, the virus lives in me. I am not defined by HIV, but I define HIV.”, her inspirational tweet read.

We learnt the self-proclaimed African queen was betrayed by a former lover, who had been aware of his status, yet he did not consider the risk he was placing her in by withholding the information.

Motsumi admitted she had been bitter for a couple of years but she forgave the man who betrayed her.

Her story received a lot of attention and social media users applauded her for being brave enough to discuss her HIV status in public.
