There are many sex rituals men are required to undertake in various parts of Africa. Most are age associated but some are on special occasions. Below is a brief explanation of three sex rituals.
SEX WITH CORPSE
Among African tribes that practice wife inheritance necrophilia is also common. A good example is the Luo tribe of Kenya where a widow should be inherited within three months of her husband’s demise. The luo call this ritual tero cholla. The widow is inherited by the husband’s youngest brother or any other close family member from the husband’s side. The widow might refuse to get inherited. If the widow passes away before the inheritance then a close family member must have sexual intercourse with her body. If a close family member is not available then a man is hired to do the sex ritual. Sex with dead women is also practiced among the Teso, Batoro and Basoga of Uganda. In Uganda the close relative who has sex with the body inherits all her husband’s property. The image below shows an old man masturbating before having sexual intercourse with a female body. SEX FOR FERTILITY
Every year at the beginning of the great hunting season the Kuru warriors celebrate a rite of fertility rooted in mythology. Each of the hunters, who must be married and over 26 years old, digs a hole to reach the rocks beneath the earth. To the Kuru this is the womb of the earth and it must be fertilized for it to bear animals which will be hunted. They masturbate in the hole so as to fertilize the earth with their sperm.
